Important Message from Pastor Joey Anthony

Hey Mt. Pleasant Family,

I know you have heard of the Coronavirus situation in the world and I’d like to take just a few minutes to share some thoughts with you from our pastoral staff.

I know there is a good bit of concern all around us about this virus, and we want to offer some suggestions and let you know what we are doing as we move forward.

I am sure you have heard the experts and their common-sense suggestions, but let me remind you again of some of those:

  • Wash your hands thoroughly and regularly with soap and warm water.
  • Use hand sanitizers between washing your hands.
  • Keep your hands away from your face as much as possible.
  • And If you have been sick, have a fever or are not feeling well, please stay at home and recuperate.  Don’t risk getting worse or infecting others.
We also want you to know how we are being proactive and using every precaution at the church.

  1. We do not have any plans to cancel any services at Mt. Pleasant at this point.

However, we will have our cleaning service folks do a deep clean of all of our facilities, where all of our pews, handles, and bathrooms will be wiped down and thoroughly sanitized.

  1. All of our hand sanitizing stations surrounding our worship center are filled and ready.
  2. For a little while, we encourage you to avoid direct contact such as hand shaking and hugs (that will be a tough one for me).
  3. In our children’s ministry, when you check-in, only one person at the welcome desk will check-in your children so there aren’t a lot of fingers touching the iPads or screens.
  4. We will be postponing our March communion until April
  5. DNow is still on for this weekend, but there will be the precautionary step of checking everyone’s temperature as people register on Friday night.  Anyone who has a temperature of 100.5 will be sent back home to get better.

Even with all of these precautions, there will be some of you who are still uneasy or unsure.  I get that, especially if you are one of those folks whose health makes you vulnerable to this virus.  Do not feel guilty because you cannot be at the church during this season.  I want you to know that it is okay to stay home and watch us online through Facebook, the MPBCLife App or on the church website.

Let me also remind you to give your tithes for the budget (also known as the Ministry Action Plan) and offerings online through our website or app, so that the ministry of the church could continue to thrive all the more in the midst of difficult days. If you need assistance with giving online, please feel free to call the church office during business hours.

Finally, Church family, let me say this.  As disciples of Jesus, we know the One who holds all things together.  We believe that God is not shocked or amazed or has been taken by surprise with this virus.  He is still on the Throne and we are His people. We know the hope and the assurance that is real in knowing Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.

During these times,

may the world see us as People of peace and not of panic,

as Christians who are constant and courageous, not conceding to the chaos,

And as disciples who have hope in the midst of all of that is happening.

So, let us pray for the Lord to intervene in this situation.

Let us pray for those who have been infected and affected by the virus.

Let us pray for the medical personnel who are working diligently.

Let us pray for our leaders to make wise decisions

and Let us pray for each other to stay well, but also, let us pray that we would stay calm and exhibit hope in this world, and as the Lord gives us opportunities, that we would faithfully give the reason for the hope that is in us…and that reason has a name.  His name is Jesus.

Hey guys, I love you all and look forward to seeing you soon.
